Welcome to ELA 11! This year, our first marking period will be all about the stage. Macbeth and The Crucible, acting and directing, reading and writing. The end product of our study will be a script of your own that you've written and revised. We may choose to be the players, too, or we may hire underlings to do the acting for us. Maybe even a combination of both. You'll also be reading a dozen or so novels this year chosen from some of the most influential books in the world, not only from American or British authors. In other units this year, you'll be creating an interview portfolio and participating in mock interviews at CMU, studying and writing your own persuasive speeches after learning about rhetoric from some of the most brilliant minds of the last century, and producing technical writing fit for any workplace or college course. In March, you'll be showing off all you know on the ACT and MME exams.
